Armed Forces Tribunal Act

The Armed Forces Tribunal Act, 2007 is a path breaking legislation in the field of military justice system in our country. The Act meets the long standing aspiration of the three Services for setting up of a separate special judicial forum to hear appeals from court marital verdicts as also to adjudicate upon the grievances of the serviceman and ex-serviceman pertaining to their pay, pension and other service matters. The Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) established under the Act has since become functional from eight locations in different cities in the country, the Principal Bench at New Delhi.

The present work by the officer would help understand not only the salient features of the Armed Forces Tribunal Act, 2007 but also the finer nuances of the law relating to its functioning.
